Heritage Open Day Thursday 13th September 2018
This Hertiage Open Day visit our (not-so-secret) Walled Garden, designed by Capability Brown for Lord Bute and now the focus of an exciting volunteer run restoration and rejuvenation project. This year our Heritage event will focus on the women of the garden and wider estate left behind during WWI. The Walled garden will be open and volunteers on hand to illuminate on its fascinating and vibrant history. See conservation, preservation and volunteer imagination in action.

Visit our octagonal Walled Garden designed by Capability Brown for Lord Bute and now the focus of our amazing restoration project.  Tours throughout the day reveal both the incredible history of the garden and the remarkable work it has taken to become the wonderful volunteer run and vibrant garden it is now together with our plans to continue and expand on this great work in the future.

This year our Heritage Day will focus on the women of the garden and wider estate who were left behind during the war.

We have roll of honour of men who served in WWI, 20 of whom did not return.  Find out about those that went, and the wives, mothers, sisters and daughters who were left behind, all part of Luton Hoo Walled Garden and Estate’s rich history
