Heritage Open Day at the

Walled Garden at Luton Hoo Estate

Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture, bringing together over 2,000 organisations, 5,000 events and 40,000 volunteers. Every year in September, organisations, houses, museums and gardens across the country throw open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community and history. We are so excited to be part of this fantastic festival!

Discounted tours of our fascinating garden, fresh seasonal produce available in our garden shop, and tea, coffee, light lunches and snacks from at The Woodyard Coffee shop - a short walk from the Walled Garden Car Park.

'Designed by Capability Brown for the 3rd Earl of Bute in 1769 and now being restored and re-imagined for the enjoyment of all; this 5 acre octagonal garden is opened to the public each Wednesday throughout the season. Step into living history as you enter the garden’s ancient walls and discover plants grown during the times of Bute, tools downed during the last century and buildings that reveal the fascinating story of the many incarnations of the garden through the decades.

Refreshments and guided tours are available. Delicious honey and apple juice from the garden are also available in our garden shop.  Plenty of free parking available!
